Water Conservation Program

EcoFert's Water Conservation Program is specifically designed to significantly reduce the amount of water needed to sustain healthy landscapes.

The Water Conservation Program is based on application through fertigation of a specially formulated organic amendment that has been proven to capture and retain moisture around the roots of plant materials.  This water retention has the obvious effect of significantly reducing the water needed for landscapes.

The Water Conservation Program amendments can be applied to the landscape through the same fertigation injection system used to apply EcoFert’s organic based Soil Fertility Program.  Water use reduction from the Water Conservation Program will differ, depending on property conditions and water management practices.

Once an EcoFert fertigation injection system has been installed and the Soil Fertility Program and Water Conservation Program initiated for a property, EcoFert personnel will conduct periodic tests to determine the moisture absorption levels at the roots of plant materials.  As moisture levels increase through the application of the Water Conservation Program, EcoFert will advise the client of the improvements and of recommended reduction of water use.

The amount of money saved will depend on many factors, but based on prevailing irrigation practices a 20% reduction on a 10 acre property amounts to a decrease of about 2,615 CCF (100 cubic feet) of annual water use.  At a presumed cost of $2.75 per CCF, that results in annual water use savings of about $7,200!
